Realistic, reproducible simulation of gas and particle ejecta during a thermal runaway of a lithium battery

In contrast to other approaches, our test procedure uses a solid rocket motor. This is the only way to create the conditions for thermal runaway with temperatures of approx. 1,200°C, exit velocities up to Mach 3, and high pulse density (0.1-1 N/mm²).

Through parameterization measures, we are able to adapt the test conditions to your individual requirements and the TR characteristics of different battery cells.

We record several measured variables such as temperatures and acting forces with high time resolution for your analysis purposes. In conjunction with additionally generated video material, you receive a comprehensive picture of the processes and relevant information. This makes it possible to further develop your product to meet the required specifications.
